Farmer's Marketing Plan
To be successful in your business, you must be a good farmer. Farmer you ask? Yes, because you will be doing some planting. You have to develop a marketing plan and measure results in terms of contacts and sales. This takes planting of seeds…
Planting Seeds of Marketing
The seeds that you need to plant are the seeds of marketing. These seeds would be such things as running advertisements, giving out business cards, attending networking meetings, making sales calls, or sending mailings to potential clients. These and other marketing-related activities are potential seeds for your business’ growth.
Here are some pointers on how to begin your marketing plan.
Unlocking the Keys to Marketing Success:
I have found the biggest key to effective marketing is to believe in your product or service. The first key is to sell or market a product that you believe in.
Consistency – whatever your marketing plan, be consistent with it. Give it time to work. Any marketing plan is going to take some time to become effective, so do not try it one or two times, and then move on to the next idea. Be patient and allow your plan to work.
Visibility – Be in the public’s eye with business cards, newsletters, brochures, letterhead, magnets, etc. Let the market know that you are here and here to stay. Exchange your credentials with key business people.
Networking – Networking is making “contact” with other people; to interact or engage in informal communication with others for mutual assistance or support. Networking is not just your connection, but sometimes it is their connection to you! When you walk into a room do you wait for someone to speak to you, or do you work the room? You need to learn to connect with key business people and networking is that key!
Membership Organizations – get involved! You need to be involved in professional organizations, networking groups, community groups, PTA’s, personal and family organizations, etc. It is through these organizations you meet people, and people are an essential ingredient to your goal of a successful marketing strategy.
Education – Teaching your customers or clients that your product or service is superior. You need to educate your clientele that your service goes the extra mile beyond your competitors. Alot of this education can be included on your web site.
Make sure as a farmer that you do not just plant the seeds. You must water the crop, fertilize the crop and harvest the crop. That is when you know you will have a successful business!
